Llys Jasmine celebrates 10th Birthday

Residents celebrated an extra care scheme’s 10th birthday with cake, fizz and a live performance from a choir.

The James Lambert Singers were invited to perform at Llys Jasmine in Mold to mark a decade since it opened.

The choir, based in Wrexham, performed two sets featuring a selection of modern and traditional songs in English and Welsh, including Sosban Fach, Show me the way to Amarillo and Wind Beneath my Wings.

Llys Jasmine was Wales & West Housing’s second extra care scheme when it welcomed its first residents in 2013 in partnership with Flintshire County Council.

It was also the first extra care scheme in Wales to feature special apartments for people with dementia.

Kara Foulkes, extra care manager at Llys Jasmine, reflected proudly on the last 10 years having been there when the scheme first opened its doors.

“We had a lovely afternoon celebrating,” she said. “There have been so many wonderful memories over the last 10 years. We’ve built a fantastic community here which is a real credit to everyone who has been involved with Llys Jasmine over the years. Most importantly we’ve built a safe and caring environment for all of our residents.”

Llys Jasmine features 61 apartments for people aged 65 and over with a care and support need.

Priority is given to people already living in Flintshire. Facilities include an on-site restaurant, lounge areas and buggy store, with regular activities held on site. Care and support at Llys Jasmine is provided by Flintshire County Council.
