Last year (2012) we changed our brand name to Wales & West Housing to reflect our new group structure and our growing capacity.
You will probably, by now, have noticed that our logo changed too, again to reflect developments in our organisation.
Our group structure was the result of the creation of our first subsidiary company, Cambria Maintenance Services. This was, in fact, set up by Wales & West Housing Association in 2010 to undertake maintenance works across Mid and South Wales.
Cambria is based in Wentloog to the North East of Cardiff, and since January 2013 also in Holywell in North Wales. Its areas of operation are extensive and range from Swansea/Carmarthenshire to the West, Caerphilly in the East and Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham to the North.
While wholly owned by Wales & West Housing, Cambria Maintenance Services Ltd is an independent company run on a commercial basis.
Cambria’s focus is on the delivery of a high quality responsive repairs service to the residents of Wales & West Housing and other clients including Hafan Cymru and a small housing provider known as Slocombe Cottages in the Mid and South Wales area. The works include day to day repairs, repairs to empty properties and emergency call-outs outside of office hours.
Cambria now employs 80 staff at present, mostly operatives, with two small management teams based in the North and South. In 2011 Cambria’s turnover was in the order of £3.5 million and it is responsible for the maintenance of 6,000 of Wales & West Housing homes.
