Vic completes cycling challenge to raise cash for Mind Cymru

WWH Director of Property Services, Vic Cox raised more than £650 for our staff charity Mind Cymru after cycling 57 miles in just over three hours.

Vic took part in the Great Weston Ride on Sunday September 20, cycling 57-miles non-stop from Bristol to Weston Super Mare over the Mendip Hills.

Vic said: “It was quite a hard ride in very windy conditions, so I was really pleased to complete it in 3 hours and 10 minutes.

“It was even more of a challenge as I am in my 50s, have chronic asthma and last year had a total knee replacement which still causes me pain.”

As part of his training Vic clocked up an impressive 755 miles in the WWH Group 3,000-mile Big 3 Challenge in August.

Our staff charity Mind Cymru is a charity close to Vic’s heart. As a Forces veteran, Vic was medically discharged from the Army after 17 years of service with the Royal Artillery after he was diagnosed with a rare health condition.

“I have lost many friends to suicide due to mental health issues and many are still suffering. They rely on support from agencies such as Mind Cymru to maintain their will to live.”

“We all know someone close to us that has suffered or suffers from mental health issues, so I wanted to challenge myself to raise as much money as I can to help them support them.”

“It was a hard ride but worth the pain. Thanks to the support of my family, friends and colleagues I am thrilled to have raised £665 to support a very important charity.”
