Looking back on our 60th anniversary year, as we look forward to the next 60!
Parties were thrown, trees were planted and plenty of money was raised for charity as our residents and staff joined the celebrations.
Resident parties
Throughout the year a total of 33 parties were organised by residents in their communities. From Flint to Fishguard, Cardiff to Cardigan; in retirement schemes, extra care schemes and community centres, many residents took advantage of our 60th birthday grant scheme to organise get togethers.

Tree planting
We launched a 60th anniversary tree planting scheme to support biodiversity and leave a lasting legacy among our communities.
In total 60 trees, mostly rowan, hazel and other smaller species, are being planted with the help of Cambria Maintenance Services.

Some of the schemes to benefit from the initiative include Plas Yr Ywen extra care in Flintshire, where we are planting 25 trees in the ancient woodland, and a number of estates in Cardigan, Aberystwyth, St Clears, Penarth, Cardiff and Barry.
Fundraising
Over the year our staff took on our 60 for 60 Challenge and raised £15,000 for our staff charities.
Highlights from the year included:
- a team of 20 from our finance department set out to climb South Wales’s highest peak Pen Y Fan 60 times in a day … and doubled their target.
- a team of runners completed the Cardiff Half Marathon Business Challenge
- a team of support and extra care staff walked and ran 600,000 steps in 60 days
All the monies were raised for our staff charities the MND Association, Cerebral Palsy Cymru, Parkinson’s UK in Wales and Cymru Versus Arthritis.
It’s been a milestone to remember!
