Junior athletes get set for success with support from Wales & West Housing

WWH has donated £958 in sponsorship to Bridgend AC to buy equipment to help its young members train for future championships.

The sponsorship will be used to buy equipment such as hurdles, discus, long jump markers, stop watches and a training DVD for the Junior team, whose ages range from 9 upwards.

“We can’t thank Wales & West Housing enough. Their sponsorship will make a great difference to our junior athletes and help them develop.”
Junior Sprint Coach Jeff Roberts

“Our club has between 100-150 junior members who take part in track and field events with other towns and cities in Wales and across the UK.  The juniors regularly go on to win championships. With this new equipment, we hope to encourage even more young people to take part.”

WWH Group Chief Executive Anne Hinchey said: “Bridgend AC has a great track record of providing motivational and inspirational activities for young people. It’s a pleasure to see the young athletes having fun, making friends and working as a team as they train hard and compete in a variety of track and field events.

“Clubs like Bridgend AC are vital to the community. The volunteer coaches are great role models and show real commitment to the club and its junior members. WWH is delighted to support them and hope they continue to achieve and succeed.”
