Improving homes for some of our Rhyl residents

Improvements are underway at a seafront apartment complex in Rhyl to help residents deal with unique weather challenges.

Situated in a prime seafront location, the Grange scheme of 41 apartments for over 55s, faces wind and sand blowing into the building. Residents discussed these, and other, issues with our North Wales team when they held a Community Conversation at The Grange in May.

Following their feedback, our North Wales team has arranged for contractors to fit a new porch to the entrance of the apartment block, which it is hoped will stop the sand blowing in. The team is also consulting with residents to replace the gates to their private car park, which are currently getting clogged by sand in the mechanism.

During the visit staff also chatted to residents as they shared their views of what it’s like living at The Grange.

It was a chance for residents to ask questions, voice their concerns and share their ideas for improvements so we could learn what is working well and get their views to help shape local services in their community.

Linda was one of the residents we chatted with during our Community Conversation.

“When you live in a communal apartment block like the Grange it’s important for residents to raise any issues. If they don’t get resolved, it affects everyone who lives here. Today was an opportunity to do that.”

Regional Housing Manager, Claire Jones, said: “Due to its location, the Grange is a unique scheme and has its own unique set of challenges.

“We take resident feedback seriously and the recent Community Conversation is part of wider ongoing discussions we’ve been having with residents about their homes and the area where they live.

“We are listening to what residents are telling us and using their comments and observations to make improvements.”
