Wales & West Housing supports families in need at Ronald McDonald House Cardiff

Families with children undergoing treatment at the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales are able to stay close to their poorly children with support from Wales & West Housing.

The housing provider has donated £5,000 in sponsorship to Ronald McDonald House Cardiff’s 5th birthday campaign to secure sponsorship of £5,000 each for 5 family rooms.

WWH will be sponsoring the ‘Cambrian’ room at the Ronald McDonald House Cardiff. Opened in 2017, the house provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation and support for families from across South Wales and further, who have children in Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital. It has 30 en-suite bedrooms available to families of children who are being treated at the hospital.

Wales & West Housing Group Chief Executive Anne Hinchey and Chair Alex Ashton visited the House to officially unveil the Cambrian Room. During their visit they were given a guided tour of the facilities and joined in with a wild animal show – one of the many activities organised for the families staying there.

Wales & West Housing’s Group Chief Executive, Anne Hinchey said: “Many families with children in hospital face struggles emotionally and financially.

“The Ronald McDonald House Charities UK give invaluable support to families when they need it most. By providing high quality, free accommodation they give hundreds of families the chance to stay close to their poorly child in hospital and spend family time together away from the hospital wards.”

“We are delighted to help them celebrate their 5th birthday by sponsoring the Cambrian Room. We hope that with our support they continue to make a difference to the lives of families in need for many years to come.”

Wales & West Housing provided the sponsorship as part of its Making a Difference fund, which works with its suppliers and contractors to give back to the local communities through supporting sports and community groups and local projects.

“We cannot thank all those that sponsor a room at Ronald McDonald House Cardiff enough. Wales & West Housing are making a huge impact on families with children in hospital by helping us provide free home from home accommodation.”
