Saving money for the festive season
Christmas might seem a long way off, but where budgeting and money are concerned, saving a bit now could go a long way later in the year.
Moneyworks Wales offers one way of saving for the festive season, avoiding the pressure to spend and rack up debt.
It is a not-for-profit organisation, funded by the Welsh Government, which provides a link to credit unions to help you borrow and save.
If you are in work, and the company you work for is part of Moneyworks Wales, you can apply for a Christmas Savings Account. Contributions are taken from your salary and go into a facilitating Credit Union account, locked away until Christmas so you’re not tempted to spend any.
If you’re out of work, you can set up an account with your local Credit Union. Credit Unions are non-profitmaking financial co-operatives. They’re owned by members – the people who use it – and any money they make goes back into helping members and the local community.
